Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the second half of April, 2015. 

The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half of April, 2015 the total Vietnam’s exports of  US dollars 6,99 billion and imports of US dollars 6,08 billion resulted in a trade deficit of US dollars 905 million. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of April was US dollars 13.07 billion, down by 3.5% as compared to the first half of April-2015 (equivalent to USD 477 million). Furthermore, in the first 4 months of 2015, Vietnam was in trade deficit of over USD 2.07 billion.

 

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods in the first 4 months of 2015 totaled US dollars 101.5 billion in value terms, expanded by 11.6% as compared to the performance of the same period of 2014. In which, the total merchandise exports valued US dollars 49.7 billion, moved up by 6.9% and the total merchandise imports valued to US dollars 51.77 billion went up by 16.6%.
In the view of Foreign Direct Invested (FDI) traders, the value of exportation and importation in the first 4 months of 2015 reached USD 33.63 billion (up by 16.3% and accounted for 67.7% of Vietnam’s total exports) and USD 31.28 billion (up by 23.1% and accounted for 60.4% of Vietnam’s total imports) respectively.
 
Export:
 
As compared to the first half of April-2015, second half of the month increase in the total export value (10.2% - USD 646 million equally) is reflected by upturn in telephone, mobile phones and parts therof ( up by USD 288 million); crude oil (up by USD 87 million); textile and garment (up by USD 77 million); computer, electrical products and spare-parts and components thereof (up by USD 55 million) …
It was also showed by Vietnam Customs Statistics that export value of some commodities shrunk in the second half of April, which included: other means of transportation (down by USD 74 million); rice (down by USD 28 million), manioc and manioc products (down by USD 26 million); coffee (down by USD 16 million)…

Totally, from January to second half of April-2015, total export value from Vietnam was USD 49.7 billion, climbed up 6.9% as compared to the same period of 2014 (equivalent to USD 3.19 billion in absolute value terms).
 
Import:

 

The first half to second half of April decrease in the total of import value (15.6%) reflected downturn in computer electrical products (down by USD 198 million); machine, equipment tools and instruments (down by USD 161 million); telephone, mobile phones and part thereof (down by USD 63 million); plastics (down by USD 61 million); fabrics (up by USD 60 million); wood and wooden products (down by USD 43 million)…

 

A decrease occurred in importation of some commodities such as: petroleum products (up by USD 78 million)…

From January to second half of April-2015, total import value into Vietnam was USD 51.77 billion, went up by 16.6%  as compared to the same period of 2014 (equivalent to USD 7.38 billion in absolute value terms).
